5 Office Design Ideas in a Post-Pandemic Workplace

It’s safe to say that the pandemic has taught and given us new habits of protecting ourselves and our health. Here are some ideas for your office design to help you do just that:

#1: Having desk barriers and “sneeze guards”

Gone are the days when employees can sit close next to each other for hours. Now, it’s common practice to instil social distancing among associates and to have barriers in between workers, which can help lessen the risk of contracting the virus. Having barriers or cubicles will now be common work set-ups, as well as having sneeze guards in the middle of every desk. They don’t cost much and are able to protect staff and customers against bacteria and virus transmission through physical contact, coughing or sneezing.

#2: Emergence of limited collaborative spaces

We all know how important brainstorming and collaboration is at work. In fact, before the pandemic, it was common practice for teams to huddle together and throw ideas at each for hours.

But now, having short meetings in big, open spaces will be a thing. It will be best to have everyone seated with enough space from each other. In cases like this, long couches and long tables will be perfect, allowing one seat apart rules to be implemented.

#3: Sanitation areas and hygienic tools in the workplace

It will be a good idea to have offices built with easy-to-clean and germ/virus-resistant materials and furniture, as well as air purifiers, disinfectant sprays, wipes, and lights, etc. This should be one of the top priorities when designing your workplace.

You must take into account how to best maintain the cleanliness of the workplace. Bathrooms should always have toilet paper, soap and hand sanitizers. Every part of the office should be a few steps away from sanitation areas in order to keep everyone and everything free from germs, bacteria, and viruses.

#4: Open, Green Space

Another way to prevent the spread of a virus within the workplace is to allow the continuous flow of fresh air from outside. Air purifiers can only do so much, but allowing air in is the best way for everyone to breath healthily.

#5: Touchless switches and tools

Another solution to preventing the spread of a virus is by eliminating the need to touch switches and communal tools and replacing them with no-touch or motion/voice-activated ones. Light switches can be replaced by motion sensors, and the use of scanners, instead of fingerprint readers, for when employees clock in and out of work.

All of these are simple ways to help stop the further spread of a contagious virus in an office setting.

Note that if it’s possible to continue working from home, do so, and to only come back to an office setting when needed or required to.

3 Things To Consider When Setting Up a Meeting Room

A meeting room or a boardroom area is vital in any organisation because it is where the exchange of creative ideas happen. Meeting spaces provide an area for discussion of important topics and also accommodate different kinds of gatherings.

We’ve put up 3 things to consider when designing your meeting and conference room.

#1: Table Selection

It’s best to figure out what kind of table to choose for your workplace. When deciding on the size, shape and colour of your boardroom table, it’s good to take a step back and reflect on what will work best for your employees. If that space will be used for small gatherings, you can go for a round table. Or if the space will mostly be for large meetings and client presentations, a long table may be the best option for you.

#2: Meeting Space Theme

When designing your meeting area, the overall feel of the space you are creating is important. This will help bring out what kind of energy you want your meetings to have. Some examples of this could be— a fun, modern, creative theme.

#3: Having Natural Light

Being able to produce natural light can greatly transform the total look and feel of any space. It helps keep your meeting area comfortable and at the same time it is able to lift one’s mood.

As a result of this, designing your space with as much sunlight could boost creativity and productivity among your employees.

The Ottoman: More Than A Chair

Dating back to the 18th century, the ottomans became popular for its wide range of styles, shapes, sizes, and functions. Contrary to popular knowledge, ottomans, aside from being used as chairs and footstools, can also be used as storage spaces.

Let’s dive in further as we share how ottomans are meant to be more than chairs.

Aesthetic

A simple ottoman added to a room can do so much. It can add contrast to your walls, as well as texture and shape. For instance, placing a couple of ottomans in a meeting room or a canteen can give the space a more sophisticated design.

As a footrest

Take a seat on your chair, then rest your legs on an ottoman. This will surely make your ottoman experience a whole lot better.

Ottomans are perfect complements to all kinds of chairs. It can turn your normal seating into a relaxing experience.

Storage

Ottomans can be used as storage, helping declutter and minimize mess in a room. You can put different things like pens and notepads, markers, cords, and remote controls inside them. Doing so can tidy up the space and keep activities such as meetings and brainstorming sessions running smooth and efficient.

3 Reasons Why You Need Breakout Spaces in your Office

Most offices are usually prone to feel dull, stifling, and look a bit too serious. This is a big problem given that people are in these spaces for many hours on many days every week. That’s why, nowadays, companies are starting to explore and constantly look for ways to make their workspace fun, inviting, and stimulating. Interior designers and fitout companies are making it a point to create fresh and unique designs to satisfy these needs.

Here are 3 reasons why you need breakout spaces to make your office a little bit more interesting and exciting.

1) It encourages productivity.

Being surrounded by dingy lighting, isolating cubicles, and monotonous colours, more often than not, makes it hard for someone to become productive because their workspace gives off a low mood.

Luckily, there are ways to add some inspiration and fun to your workspace which can foster an environment of productivity. With the help of Capisco, designers can make use of the podspaces and ottoman chairs for breakout areas, where employees can relax, eat, and have informal meetings. Breakout areas in offices are known to boost health, creativity, and reason #2…

2) It promotes collaboration and teamwork.

Unconventional and unique workplaces can create an atmosphere of collaboration between colleagues when they’re surrounded by an open and positive space. With these kinds of spaces, people can come together, bounce off ideas with one other and be able to make business decisions as a team. Some good inspirations for spaces like these are Capisco’s Italian chair collection and the Laugh chair collection, which are definitely not your usual office chairs.

3) Because … why not? It’s easy and can be done at a reasonable price.

Creating breakout spaces usually entail extra cost. But there are ways of creating these spaces at a reasonable price. Capisco gives you the freedom to choose the type and colour of the chairs that you want to put in your space in order to achieve that unique look at a good price. As an example, Capisco’s Wing chairs look absolutely fresh and new to the eyes. Designers can then complement them with other elements, such as lighting and other type of furniture, to complete the breakout space.

What Makes a Workspace Standout

Struggling to make your office space standout? Colour and style are just what you need to change the game.

A common struggle among interior designers and fitout companies is bringing their vision to life. When it comes to designing professional workplaces, part of the process is to ensure that the overall design and look is original and fresh.

With the help of Capisco, check out these 2 ways in making your office space standout.

1. Choose the right colour.

Each company has their own identity. And most of the time, designers must incorporate design elements that reflect a company’s brand in their designs.

A major element is a brand’s colour that is vital to a workspace design. For example, a brand like Coca-Cola would likely have touches of red in their office.

With Capisco, you can choose from a wide range of colour palettes that will surely fit your creative vision for a specific design.

2. Style is key.

Part of a designer’s role is to create functional but stylish designs that elevate and enhance workspaces. This can be in the form of interiors, walls and furniture. Yes, it can be a struggle to find the right piece to fill your design. That’s where Capisco comes in. With our help, you’ll have the ability to choose from a variety of chair designs that can be tailor-fitted to your style, from upholstery to the finishing touches of the chairs.
