FITOUT: Inscape Interiors
AREA / SIZE: 800 square metres
YEAR: 2020
LOCATION: Saleyard Rd. Kyneton, Victoria
TYPE: Commercial Office Space

Central Steel Build, a building manufacturer located in Kyneton, Victoria, has recently moved into their new 800 square metre office space featuring various chairs of ours. These included our Rhythm, Italian Collection, Laugh and ottomans. They needed chairs that were functional, fit for purpose, and would last at least 5 years of daily wear. And we’re proud to cover all of these and of course offer a lifetime guarantee.

The overall design of the space truly manifested Central Steel Build’s identity of being industry experts. From its spacious interiors, deep blue and dark green accents, and paired with plenty of natural light, the end-result is definitely inviting. “Our main aim was to create a beautiful open plan office environment where the different departments were defined by colour & lines rather than physical walls, and a hub where staff felt empowered to perform and innovate yet feel safe with the luxuries & comforts of home” -Gerald Edmonds, Managing Director of Central Steel Build.

“Working with Capisco to further finesse our chair requirements for office, training room, boardroom, and breakout areas was a pleasure, the team’s sense of humour, ergonomic industry expertise, fabric suggestions, and superior Italian collection range made it an unforgettable and painless experience. Their assurance that the chairs and fabrics we chose would be delivered on time for our opening day was a real winner. The friendly & helpful delivery guy was the cream on the cake. Thanks team, you guys are awesome!” -Gerald

“It was easy (and a pleasure) to work with Capisco. We all collaborated so well to achieve a unique result that truly reflects the brand, as well as the look/function of our new HQ space. The process was stress free, ideal with so much decision making during a fit out process”.  -Luisa Pane, Central Steel Build’s Creative Lead.

Similarly, the team at Capisco enjoyed working with Gerald and his in-house designer Lu, through great collaboration to achieve the most beautiful fabric textures and colours for their design intent.

Italian Chair

The Italian chair is elegant yet robust, making a statement in any breakout, meeting or office space. Available in 6 PP shell colours, with or without armrests and swivel bases, it is the perfect chair for any situation. Central Steel Build opted for chairs complete with swivel bases and arms, and have also selected beautiful shades of blue for upholstery.

Upholstered stools were also selected as it is perfect for high work benches.

Laugh Chair

The laugh chair is extremely versatile, offering customisation in the height, colour, upholstery, seat, and frame of the chair. Being stackable allows for easy transport and storage, perfect for sporadic use if necessary.

Rhythm Chair

The rhythm chair is designed for elegant boardrooms or meeting spaces with the fluid lines of the aluminium arm rests curving around the high-grade leather body. The olive-green leather rhythm chair chosen for Central Steel build looks amazing in the neutral toned boardroom.

Ottomans

The built ottoman has a compact design making it easy to carry. Along with its comfortable upholstery, the ottoman can be utilised in breakout spaces or even reception areas.

We offer full custom upholstery, so any colour or fabric you wish to see, Capisco can deliver. The orange colour used here is so vibrant and adds a lot of accent to the breakout space and reception area at Central Steel Build.

2021 colours of the year announced!

Pantone, best known for their colour matching system, releases several colours that they predict will be popular in the upcoming year – whether it be in the architecture, fit-out or apparel space.

Last year, pantone shade 19-4052, or simply called ‘Classic Blue’ was selected. This is a deep blue shade that was referred to as a comforting and relatable colour.

Photos taken from: Pantone.com & Icon Interiors

Curious to know what the colours for 2021 are? Pantone have selected both ‘Ultimate grey’ (a pale grey) and ‘Illuminating’ (a soft yellow tone).

Photos taken from: San Diego Union-Tribune

The chosen colours work so well together as the bright yellow shades evoke feelings of optimism while the grey tones speak more of composure and resilience. Hence, reflect on the challenging year that was 2020 that we were all able to overcome.

If you’re thinking of incorporating these colours into your 2021 designs, we highly recommend our Italian Collection Chair with the shell 7502C which offers a subtle yellow or go for our upholstered Italian chairs that can be customised with soft grey fabric making for a comfortable and aesthetic breakout or boardroom chair.

The Italian chair can be made both with and without armrests and a range of different bases such as a swivel base, ensuring that it will suit any office fit-out requirements you may have.

As seen in the project photo below, the upholstered Italian Collection Chair is simple but combined with a pop of colour, looks very striking.

Moreover, our wing chair is a fun design, available in yellow and is ideal for kitchen, waiting or breakout style seating. Adding colour to breakout spaces through furniture can be an interesting way to create a work environment in which creativity and collaboration blossom.

We hope both the colors ‘illuminating’ and ‘ulitmate grey’ sparked some inspiration and design ideas in you. Because at Capisco, any design you may have can be achieved as we customise chair materials, colours and features.

We look forward to helping you make the most of the 2021 colours of the year. Happy yellow-grey New Year everyone!

Does Office Design Really Impact a Company’s Culture?

Business Culture is becoming more and more important and while it has been hard to measure and develop this year, with 2021 approaching there is no better time to assess how a new office design or Fitout could help to improve business culture as employees begin the return to offices.

Times are changing

Office uses are evolving into more than just providing tools and spaces in which employees complete tasks. Offices are now a space that draw people together through collaborative meeting rooms while seeking to attract and retain staff by creating a sense of community and belongingness while allowing for effective communication.

Office design can work to maximise natural light, incorporate fitness facilities or even implement dynamic work settings to allow for more informal lunch meetings. In fact, check out this lunch meeting area where colleagues can go around tables to better connect with each other.

Employee collaboration and input

Collaborative environments and workspaces are all the rage at the moment as ‘many hands make light work’ which helps to boost productivity but, more importantly it creates a more inclusive and knowledge-seeking space. For example, a new colleague of yours, who, at first was unsure about how to connect with the rest of the team is now, due to an open-plan office design, is surrounded by an environment where ideas and opinions are nurtured and welcomed.

Encouraging participation and seeking advice from workers over something as simple as selecting an office chair allows you to build the motivation levels of the employees by nurturing an environment in which everyone can express their thoughts and opinions.

Colours

Whether it be brand specific colours or simply bright and vibrant choices, having colour throughout an office through paintings, chairs or other furniture is so important. Brand colours or logos can aid in creating a unique environment that builds a long-term impression on both employees and visitors.

Colours can also be beneficial in terms of productivity in the office. Colours helps to stimulate the mind to allow for greater creativity and motivation both of which help a business to improve efficiency and innovation. For example, ‘orange’ stimulates concentration and ‘blue’ promotes calmness making it a popular combination for office design.

Our team can provide a variety of fabric colour options to match any colour you have in mind for an upcoming project. Better yet, we also customise chairs to suit the fabric of your choice helping to make every office unique.

We hope these ways inspire you to enhance a company’s culture by designing a collaborative, dynamic and vibrant workspace with our custom upholstery and various colour options helping to create any vision you have.

5 Office Design Ideas in a Post-Pandemic Workplace

It’s safe to say that the pandemic has taught and given us new habits of protecting ourselves and our health. Here are some ideas for your office design to help you do just that:

#1: Having desk barriers and “sneeze guards”

Gone are the days when employees can sit close next to each other for hours. Now, it’s common practice to instil social distancing among associates and to have barriers in between workers, which can help lessen the risk of contracting the virus. Having barriers or cubicles will now be common work set-ups, as well as having sneeze guards in the middle of every desk. They don’t cost much and are able to protect staff and customers against bacteria and virus transmission through physical contact, coughing or sneezing.

#2: Emergence of limited collaborative spaces

We all know how important brainstorming and collaboration is at work. In fact, before the pandemic, it was common practice for teams to huddle together and throw ideas at each for hours.

But now, having short meetings in big, open spaces will be a thing. It will be best to have everyone seated with enough space from each other. In cases like this, long couches and long tables will be perfect, allowing one seat apart rules to be implemented.

#3: Sanitation areas and hygienic tools in the workplace

It will be a good idea to have offices built with easy-to-clean and germ/virus-resistant materials and furniture, as well as air purifiers, disinfectant sprays, wipes, and lights, etc. This should be one of the top priorities when designing your workplace.

You must take into account how to best maintain the cleanliness of the workplace. Bathrooms should always have toilet paper, soap and hand sanitizers. Every part of the office should be a few steps away from sanitation areas in order to keep everyone and everything free from germs, bacteria, and viruses.

#4: Open, Green Space

Another way to prevent the spread of a virus within the workplace is to allow the continuous flow of fresh air from outside. Air purifiers can only do so much, but allowing air in is the best way for everyone to breath healthily.

#5: Touchless switches and tools

Another solution to preventing the spread of a virus is by eliminating the need to touch switches and communal tools and replacing them with no-touch or motion/voice-activated ones. Light switches can be replaced by motion sensors, and the use of scanners, instead of fingerprint readers, for when employees clock in and out of work.

All of these are simple ways to help stop the further spread of a contagious virus in an office setting.

Note that if it’s possible to continue working from home, do so, and to only come back to an office setting when needed or required to.

3 Things To Consider When Setting Up a Meeting Room

A meeting room or a boardroom area is vital in any organisation because it is where the exchange of creative ideas happen. Meeting spaces provide an area for discussion of important topics and also accommodate different kinds of gatherings.

We’ve put up 3 things to consider when designing your meeting and conference room.

#1: Table Selection

It’s best to figure out what kind of table to choose for your workplace. When deciding on the size, shape and colour of your boardroom table, it’s good to take a step back and reflect on what will work best for your employees. If that space will be used for small gatherings, you can go for a round table. Or if the space will mostly be for large meetings and client presentations, a long table may be the best option for you.

#2: Meeting Space Theme

When designing your meeting area, the overall feel of the space you are creating is important. This will help bring out what kind of energy you want your meetings to have. Some examples of this could be— a fun, modern, creative theme.

#3: Having Natural Light

Being able to produce natural light can greatly transform the total look and feel of any space. It helps keep your meeting area comfortable and at the same time it is able to lift one’s mood.

As a result of this, designing your space with as much sunlight could boost creativity and productivity among your employees.

The Ottoman: More Than A Chair

Dating back to the 18th century, the ottomans became popular for its wide range of styles, shapes, sizes, and functions. Contrary to popular knowledge, ottomans, aside from being used as chairs and footstools, can also be used as storage spaces.

Let’s dive in further as we share how ottomans are meant to be more than chairs.

Aesthetic

A simple ottoman added to a room can do so much. It can add contrast to your walls, as well as texture and shape. For instance, placing a couple of ottomans in a meeting room or a canteen can give the space a more sophisticated design.

As a footrest

Take a seat on your chair, then rest your legs on an ottoman. This will surely make your ottoman experience a whole lot better.

Ottomans are perfect complements to all kinds of chairs. It can turn your normal seating into a relaxing experience.

Storage

Ottomans can be used as storage, helping declutter and minimize mess in a room. You can put different things like pens and notepads, markers, cords, and remote controls inside them. Doing so can tidy up the space and keep activities such as meetings and brainstorming sessions running smooth and efficient.

3 Reasons Why You Need Breakout Spaces in your Office

Most offices are usually prone to feel dull, stifling, and look a bit too serious. This is a big problem given that people are in these spaces for many hours on many days every week. That’s why, nowadays, companies are starting to explore and constantly look for ways to make their workspace fun, inviting, and stimulating. Interior designers and fitout companies are making it a point to create fresh and unique designs to satisfy these needs.

Here are 3 reasons why you need breakout spaces to make your office a little bit more interesting and exciting.

1) It encourages productivity.

Being surrounded by dingy lighting, isolating cubicles, and monotonous colours, more often than not, makes it hard for someone to become productive because their workspace gives off a low mood.

Luckily, there are ways to add some inspiration and fun to your workspace which can foster an environment of productivity. With the help of Capisco, designers can make use of the podspaces and ottoman chairs for breakout areas, where employees can relax, eat, and have informal meetings. Breakout areas in offices are known to boost health, creativity, and reason #2…

2) It promotes collaboration and teamwork.

Unconventional and unique workplaces can create an atmosphere of collaboration between colleagues when they’re surrounded by an open and positive space. With these kinds of spaces, people can come together, bounce off ideas with one other and be able to make business decisions as a team. Some good inspirations for spaces like these are Capisco’s Italian chair collection and the Laugh chair collection, which are definitely not your usual office chairs.

3) Because … why not? It’s easy and can be done at a reasonable price.

Creating breakout spaces usually entail extra cost. But there are ways of creating these spaces at a reasonable price. Capisco gives you the freedom to choose the type and colour of the chairs that you want to put in your space in order to achieve that unique look at a good price. As an example, Capisco’s Wing chairs look absolutely fresh and new to the eyes. Designers can then complement them with other elements, such as lighting and other type of furniture, to complete the breakout space.

What Makes a Workspace Standout

Struggling to make your office space standout? Colour and style are just what you need to change the game.

A common struggle among interior designers and fitout companies is bringing their vision to life. When it comes to designing professional workplaces, part of the process is to ensure that the overall design and look is original and fresh.

With the help of Capisco, check out these 2 ways in making your office space standout.

1. Choose the right colour.

Each company has their own identity. And most of the time, designers must incorporate design elements that reflect a company’s brand in their designs.

A major element is a brand’s colour that is vital to a workspace design. For example, a brand like Coca-Cola would likely have touches of red in their office.

With Capisco, you can choose from a wide range of colour palettes that will surely fit your creative vision for a specific design.

2. Style is key.

Part of a designer’s role is to create functional but stylish designs that elevate and enhance workspaces. This can be in the form of interiors, walls and furniture. Yes, it can be a struggle to find the right piece to fill your design. That’s where Capisco comes in. With our help, you’ll have the ability to choose from a variety of chair designs that can be tailor-fitted to your style, from upholstery to the finishing touches of the chairs.
